Maizie
Maizie is a wonderful 7 year old Airedale Terrier with a big heart and an even bigger personality. At approximately 100 pounds, she is a substantial, strong girl who is working toward losing about 15 pounds under her veterinarian’s guidance. She was dearly loved and cared for by her previous owner, who had her since puppyhood but sadly had to surrender her when moving into a small apartment.
Maizie is affectionate, sweet, intelligent, and eager to be part of a family. She enjoys her people and enjoys cuddling on the couch. At night, she settles beautifully and sleeps soundly until morning. She is a lovely house dog; she is not destructive, does not counter – surf, and has quickly shown what a polite lady she can be indoors. Her favorite sleeping spot is under the bed – and adopters should know she is an enthusiastic snorer!
Outside, Maizie is energetic, playful, and curious. She absolutely loves her morning walks, exploring the backyard, and playing ball. She runs after the ball, often brings it back, and is even learning to catch it. She loves squeaky toys, carrying them around and squeaking them without destroying them, and she loves playing tuggy too. Regular exercise will be important for Maizie, both to help her reach a healthy weight and to give her the physical and mental stimulation she enjoys. Maizie already knows several commands, including sit, stay, down, crawl, come and shake. Her recall still needs some work, and she will benefit from continued training, consistency, and positive reinforcement. She has made remarkable progress in just one week in her foster home, showing how smart, willing and adaptable she is.
Maizie’s ideal home will be one that understands the needs of a strong, active Airedale and can provide daily walks, playtime, continued training and lots of attention. In return, she promises to be a loving companion, a delightful playmate, and a wonderfully well – behaved house dog.
Maizie is a truly special girl. She is loving, funny, bright, and full of potential – and she has so much love to give her forever family. She is such a good doggie, and we cannot say enough positive things about her!
