Meet Dodger, a charming 5-year-old, 60 pound male with lots of love to give! He is energetic, curious and eager to please. His original owner had a change of living circumstance that led him to seek a new home for Dodger. During the surrender, Dodger’s owner admitted to being too “heavy handed” with him and consequently he lacked confidence and trust in strangers. He was also severely matted and scared of brushes and nail trims. Several months of living at Paws and Play Dog Resort and Training Center with professional training has restored Dodger’s love of meeting new people. He still requires care and patience with brushing and grooming but has improved greatly. He would prefer a quiet household with no kids, small animals or cats, but enjoys dogs. Dodger needs and deserves time and patience to establish a routine in a home as he doesn’t like to be disturbed when he’s resting. Training lessons in a home environment has taught Dodger that if he needs to rest, he should find his bed or crate and he will be safe and his space respected. He knows many obedience cues like Sit, Down, Place, Come and Kennel up for the crate, as well as leash manners.  He absolutely loves the outdoors and would therefore appreciate a fenced in yard and make a great hiking partner! More than anything Dodger would like the safety and security of a loving and patient home and to return the favor by being a loving, loyal companion.
