Meet Mash, a very sweet and lovable young male who is great with kids (lived with 3 children ages 5, 14, and 16) and good with other dogs (lived with a 6-month-old female Bulldog).  He is being boarded right now and he noses other dogs through the fence and acts like he wants to play.  He pays no attention to the other dogs barking at him from their kennels as he is walked down the aisleway.  He has never been around cats, but tried to chase the two kitties at the boarding facility.  He is crate trained and housebroken.  He is VERY food and treat motivated.  He previously went to the groomer “very willingly” but the groomer reported he can be very talkative with the other dogs trying to get them to play.  He is fine with his ears and feet being handled.  He loves to ride in the car.

Mash was surrendered due to his energy level and escaping the yard on several occasions to roam the neighborhood.  He was not neutered when he came to ATRA but that is now done and will hopefully settle him a bit.  Also his exercise routine consisted of maybe 2-3 walks per week and some fetch playing in the back yard.  Seems that was not enough for this young boy.  Plus he was walked in a plain flat collar which he did not respect.  We are working with a trainer to help Mash learn to respect his collar to make his walks more enjoyable, and to learn his manners when meeting people (no jumping).  He also knows sit and down, especially with a treat in your hand.
