Otter
Otter will be four years old in October; she weighed about 80lbs at intake and is currently on a diet to reduce her weight and is now 72lbs. She's not a large-framed dog, rather she is short and stocky. When she and her brother, an Airedale from a different breeder, were acquired, they were the only "children" in the home besides an older Beagle. When a human sibling joined the family just over a year ago, Otter, who was quite spoiled, got a wee bit jealous. She never threatened the baby, but instead became annoyed with the Beagle. This resulted in a fight, which made the owners worry that the baby, who is now beginning to walk, will get caught in the middle of a fight or knocked down repeatedly by the dogs. While the trainer concedes that Otter is a loving dog, it must be noted that she is extra-stubborn even for an Airedale. She should not be placed in a home with small children, small dogs, or small pets such as cats; older, Airedale-savvy children would probably be fine. If you are looking for a sassy Airedale who will keep you on your toes, Otter is that diamond in the rough!
